BBQ & DISCO

Thanks so much to our wonderful PTFA for organising the Barbeque and Disco on Friday evening – it was a great success.  I know that Year 6 particularly enjoyed their VIP treatment with their special room and snacks – thanks to all who were involved in making this so special for them. Thanks also to all the staff who stayed late to help and to DJ Washington who gave his time for free. There were also lots of willing volunteers who helped with the tidying up the end – thank you. We will let you know the total raised once all the money has been counted.

We will send details of the next PTFA meeting in the Autumn Term – the more parents that are involved, the more money we can raise to give your children the best possible experiences at school.

STAFFING

On Tuesday, children will have the opportunity to spend time with their new teachers.  We have some small changes to the teaching team next year.  Teachers in each year group will be:

Reception – Ms Hier

Year 1 – Miss Foster and Mrs Allaway

Year 2 – Miss Williams

Year 3 – Miss Banks

Year 4 – Miss Botting and Miss Beavis

Year 5 – Mr Mills

Year 6 – Ms Soar and Miss Keeling

WEAR GREEN FOR GRENFALL

Thank you so much for donating to such an important cause and to those parents who came along to the Benefit Gig and gave further donations. The children performed brilliantly in the gig and Mrs Paton did a great job in organising this – thank you. The total raised was over £250!

i360

Last week, all children had the chance to visit Brighton’s i360, totally free of charge.  It was quite a long walk and all children coped admirably! Thanks to Miss Banks for making a special effort to ensure that our children didn’t miss out.  We hope that everyone had a great time.

SPORTS DAY

Sports Day will take place on Tuesday 18th July at 1.45pm. The gates will be opened at 1.40pm and all parents and carers are very welcome to attend. Please make sure that children have their PE Kit (including trainers or pumps), a sunhat, water bottle and have had sun cream applied in the morning.  The weather forecast suggests it is going to be very hot tomorrow – if it is too hot for Sports Day to go ahead, we will text to let you know it has been cancelled.

At the end of sports day, children will return to their classes. If you are attending sports day, you will be able to collect your child from the classroom.  Please give teachers the chance to get the children ready to go home and they must be signed out with the teacher.

MISS KEELING

We are delighted to inform you that Miss Keeling is making a good recovery and so will be visiting us in school this week.  She is hoping to be back full time in September.

SUMMER READING CHALLENGE

The Summer Reading Challenge takes place every year during the summer holidays. You can sign up at your local library, then read six library books of your choice to complete the Challenge. There are exclusive rewards to collect along the way, and it’s FREE to take part!

The Summer Reading Challenge website helps you keep track of your child’s reading all year round: find new books to read, take part in competitions and play games. For more information, please visit the website: https://summerreadingchallenge.org.uk.
